Landsborough State School 2025 Annual Improvement Plan
We are six months into the enactment of our annual implementation plan for our school. Our priorities are:
Implement Version 9 AC in English and Mathematics, with a focus on implementing consistent instructional routines across the school.
Embed whole school support systems and processes (including PBL, Reboot, Support Model) to ensure we meet the range of student needs, maximising learning time and engagement in all areas of schooling.
Our teaching staff have been working with the AIP to reflect on where we are at with our targets and reviewing semester 1 reporting data.
Parent/Teacher interviews will be offered again towards the end of Term 3. We use our assessment and reporting data to support continuous improvement. This data will inform our teaching and learning sequence.
Bully Zero - State Government’s antibullying initiative
A valuable opportunity is being provided to parents/carers of our schools within the region, to participate in a free face-to-face 1.5-hour workshop facilitated by Bully Zero, a leading bully prevention organisation. The workshop Bully Zero, is designed to proactively support parents to understand what bullying is and what parents can do to support their children to be safe both online and when face to face with their peers.
To register for a FACE-to-FACE training session on Wednesday 6 August, 6 - 7:30 pm, Maroochydore RSL or Thursday 7 August, 6 – 7:30pm, Caloundra RSL - RSVP to: NorthCoastRegion@qed.qld.gov.au. (Please include the workshop date)
The attached flyer provides information regarding locations, inclusive of the online option and how to register for the workshops. Participants must register for the workshops.
You are invited to participate in this year’s School Opinion Survey (SOS). This is your chance to provide your opinions about Landsborough Primary School.
The school opinion survey is a confidential survey and no-one at the school or in the Department of Education will know the responses you provide. Responses from all parents are consolidated and reported back to our school.
You will receive a unique link via email. Just click on the link and this will take you directly to the survey.
The survey will be open until Friday, 22 August 2025 and should take under five minutes to complete.
We value your feedback and opinions and will use this information to reflect on our practices and use the data to inform our next steps for school improvement.
Thank you for your time and feedback.

Thank you Landsborough Community
We welcome Selina Barry back to school on Monday 28th of July. Landsborough is an amazing school, with fantastic young people and supportive families. We are so lucky to be surrounded by such a positive community. Thank you to all staff and students at Landsborough Primary for the privilege, it’s been a pleasure.
Yours in Education

Head of Department – Curriculum
Spanish Fiesta
Congratulations to our amazing Spanish teacher Jose Alzaibar Nieves. Earlier in the year Jose submitted an application for funding to develop a project at Landsborough State School that would grow global competence within our school community. Last week he was notified that he was successful. The project involves our year 5/6 students understanding and appreciating Hispanic cultures, using language as a bridge for cultural expression and engagement, promoting inquiry, collaboration, and creativity through real-world tasks and fostering a sense of global citizenship and empathy. The projects will end with a Spanish Fiesta later in the year where parents and community are invited to come along and celebrate with the students.
Curriculum snapshots
At the beginning of each term, we include the Curriculum Snapshot in the school newsletter for each year level. This document is a snapshot of the learning that will take place in each of the subject areas for this term. I encourage families to use this document to discuss with your child/ren what they will be learning.
Book Week returns in 2025 with the theme ‘Book an Adventure’.
There will be a dress up day held on Friday 22 August where students are encouraged to come to school dressed as their favourite book character or author. Stay tuned for further details.
Out of Bound Areas
The hilly grassed area outside the hall and the grounds around the year 1 classrooms are out of bound areas before, during and after school to all students due to safety reasons. We are seeing many students playing in these areas particularly after school. Can parents please support us in ensuring these areas remain out of bounds to students by collecting your child/children and leaving the school grounds as soon as possible.
Kylie Clark
A/Head of Department Curriculum

Congratulations to our Landsborough Legends for this week. NOTE: If your child is away on the day they are to receive their Landsborough Legend certificate on parade, they will receive their certificate from their classroom teacher.

100 Days of Prep Celebration
This week our Preppies celebrated 100 days of learning, laughter, and growing together—and what a GREAT day it was! From counting to creating, every moment has been filled with wonder and joy. It was a celebration of what we’ve achieved so far and a reminder of just how far we’ve come in only 100 days. Here’s to 100 days smarter!
Year 1
Year 1S and 1EK have been enjoying hands on learning and using their learning about 2D shapes to create these very cool robots! Our assessment will include our understanding of the names and features of shapes! Well done!
6C
This term in English, Year 6 will be creating a persuasive vlog about a local community issue. 6C recorded an introduction to a persuasive vlog about the safety of having to cross a busy road to access our school oval. They took videos, still images and used persuasive language and vocal tone. Great work, 6C!
6W
Students in 6W have kicked off their term with enthusiasm, diving into the world of vlogs as part of their English unit. They began by exploring local community issues through brainstorming sessions and are now deepening their understanding of vlog structure and key language features.

QParents
Throughout Semester 1 we have continued to use established processes (paper copies) to communicate information and seek consent for camps, excursions, incursions etc. with the aim of providing parents and carers with as much time as possible to sign up to QParents. We are in the process of fully transitioning to QParents which will mean that paper copies will no longer be provided. Please ensure that you have signed up to QParents so that you can access this important communication.
QParents is a secure, online portal that our school uses. QParents provides parents with quick, easy access to their student information including:
student and attendance details
report cards
invoices and payment history
consent forms for school activities such as excursions.
For further information, visit the QParents Website orcall 13 QGOV (13 74 68).
The P&C is made up of parents just like you! The primary goal of the P&C is to enhance the educational opportunities for the students at our school. But along with that, it is also a great platform to build lifelong friendships with other like-minded parents, enhance your skill set, become more informed on important school matters and policies, provide parent input and give back to our wonderful school community.
Being a P&C member does not mean that you must attend all meetings. Our meetings are where all decisions are made, therefore attendance is encouraged so you can have your say.
Our next meeting is Wednesday 30 July at 5:30pm in the Hive.
Book Club catalogues are on their way home with students. Orders can be placed online at scholastic.com.au/LOOP and are due by Tuesday 29 July. Please note, cash orders are currently not accepted.
Colour Fun Run
Did you hear the exciting news? The Colour Explosion Fun Run is back for 2025 and will be held on Friday 19 September!
We can't wait to fundraise with you.
Stay tuned for more information in coming weeks. Without volunteers we can't run the event, so we will be searching for parent and carer help. There will be lots of easy, fun jobs to do.
Uniforms - The School Locker
Landsborough State School uniforms are available to purchase from The School Locker Maroochydore. This store is open 7 days a week for convenient shopping. You can also make purchases online and have the items home delivered!
Helping Hands Before & After School Care
At Helping Hands Network, before and after school care is more than a service — it’s a springboard. A place where kids thrive, friendships grow, and curiosity is always encouraged.
Helping Hands Network is proud to run the ‘Adventure Program’ at their before and after school care services. The Adventure Program is an industry leading framework designed to nurture children’s potential through play.
Play-based learning fosters children’s growth and wellbeing and is a fundamental right of a child. Through play, children can learn to express themselves, learn how to interact with others and reach key developmental milestones, all whilst playing and having fun with friends!
Kids can kick start their day at the 'Rise then Shine' morning program which offers energising activities and a nutritious breakfast to set kids up for a positive start to their school day.
Why not continue the fun after school at the 'Stay and Play' afternoon program where children can participate in fun activities, build close friendships and wind down after a busy day at school.
Whether they're gearing up for a serious soccer tournament with 'Super Sports' or solving puzzles with 'Brain Boosters', Helping Hands Network’s adventures enable kids to do what they love and discover new interests, all whilst making friends outside of the classroom!
Rest assured that your kids are having a ball with friends at Helping Hands Network where glitter flies, and imaginations soar. A place where screens are off, and kids are switched on! Where you avoid school peak hour, and they get peak play hours.
Helping Hands Network is the place where play meets potential.
Visit the Helping Hands Network website to learn more about their before and after school care program.
