Our P&C’s Monstar Colour Fun Run is happening today, and we couldn’t be more excited! As our major school fundraiser for 2025, this event promises to be a fun-filled afternoon you won’t want to miss. Students and families will be out on the oval enjoying an exciting obstacle course, sliming staff and community members, and getting absolutely covered in coloured powder, all in the name of fun and fundraising! A massive thank you to our amazing P&C for all their hard work in organising this event, and to our school community for the incredible fundraising efforts and ongoing support. We hope everyone has a fantastic afternoon. Don’t forget to check out our Facebook page for some colourful and messy highlights!
Prep Mud Kitchen
Mr Mark has been very busy creating a fantastic mud kitchen for our Prep students! The children are already enjoying endless fun, creativity, and imaginative play thanks to this wonderful addition to our outdoor space. We truly appreciate the time, effort, and care you put into creating something so special. Thank you, Mr Mark!
Term 4 Staffing Update
At the end of this term, Dr Jamie Coull will be commencing maternity leave, returning mid-2026. We wish Dr Coull all the very best during this exciting time. We are pleased to announce that Mrs Mandy Nicola was successful in her application to replace Dr Coull as our Performing Arts teacher during her leave. Mrs Nicola brings a strong background in Music and has already been working in various roles across our school. She is well known to our students and familiar with our school operations, and we are confident she will continue to provide high-quality arts education to our students.
We also extend our sincere thanks to Mrs Melissa Dougherty, who has been working with our Inclusion team, supporting students in the middle years since the beginning of this year. Mrs Dougherty’s contract will conclude at the end of this term. On behalf of the Landsborough State School community, we thank her for her expertise, dedication, and the positive impact she has made. We wish her all the very best for the future.
Jones Hill SS Visit & Lockyer Valley Professional Learning Tour
Over the past two weeks, Landsborough State School has proudly hosted staff from Jones Hill State School and Principals from the Lockyer Valley Region as part of a professional learning tour. The focus of these visits was to observe our approach to the teaching of reading, our literacy block, and English curriculum. A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated staff for their professionalism and generosity in welcoming our visitors into classrooms and sharing their teaching practice. These valuable learning exchanges are only possible because of their willingness to collaborate, reflect, and lead. Their openness and commitment to high-quality teaching are helping to position Landsborough as a school of excellence in teaching and learning. Thank you for showcasing the incredible work happening across our school every day. Congratulations, Landsborough. You continue to shine!

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)
PBL – Reboot Faces
Alongside PBL we use the Reboot program which helps children recognise their emotions and return to a calm, ready to learn state. To make this easier for students we use reboot faces. The faces and numbers below are the visuals students use to identify how they are feeling.
Often throughout the day we come across many speed bumps or roadblocks that may change how we are feeling. Therefore, it is important students learn some strategies that will help us move from 1 or 2 to a 4 or 5. Here are some strategies students may choose.
Role modelling this behaviour for kids is a powerful way to show them that we all need to cope with our feelings and emotions. It teaches that managing feelings is a skill we can all develop. This is a great opportunity for you to share some strategies you may use during the day too.

Congratulations to our Show Choir "Vitamin Bee" for their excellent performance on Parade in Week 8. The choir have been working on two songs from musical theatre and if you missed it, check our school Facebook Page for the videos taken by Mrs Barry.
At the end of this year, we are farewelling the final "foundation member" of show choir. This student has been committed to attending rehearsals and being a member of the choir since 2022 when I started the program. Thank you, Piper Joyce (2025 Performing Arts Captain). It's been an absolutely pleasure to watch you grow in skill and confidence over the past 4 years.
Show Choir will continue in Term 4 with my replacement taking over.
2026 Whole School Musical
At the end of this term, I'll be going on maternity leave. Thank you to those families who have kindly reached out to me with well wishes. I will be returning next year for the beginning of Term 3 2026 to direct our Whole School Musical Project, which has been switched to Semester 2.
In 2026 we will present a Musical Theatre Showcase rather than our usual Junior Broadway Collection show. That means each year level will study music from a different musical and present their work in a concert style in Term 4 2026. This is a great opportunity to explore music from shows that we may not get the chance to perform as a full show. I'm very excited to return to what I think is the best part of my job.
On Tuesday, students in Year 1 received a special visit from local firefighters. They reviewed information about fire safety and showed the students their fire truck and the tools they use. The students had a lot of fun!
