Our P&C's Monstar Colour Fun Run will be held on Friday 19 September. This is our major school fundraiser for 2025 and is an event not to miss! Each week we will be announcing a new weekly colour run challenge! Challenge 1 was for the class who had the most students registered by Friday 15th August. The winner for this challenge was 1S, who won 15 mins of extra playtime!
Challenge 2 (this week’s challenge) is the class that has the highest fundraising total by Friday 22 August. This class will receive free icy poles for every student. The winning class will be announced at morning messages on Monday morning.
Participation in the School Fun Run doesn't require fundraising. It is a fun event open to all students. Please make sure you register as Registration = permission to participate.
Even raising as little as $10 will ensure your child wins a prize. Plus, there are class prizes to be won, and the whole school benefits from the funds raised! The more we raise, the more resources we can pour back into our school for ALL students to enjoy.
Interschool Sport
This term, we will be competing in the Interschool Touch Competition. Our students have been training very hard in their lunch breaks and Friday afternoons for this upcoming sports event. It will be held at Bee Gees on Friday 29 August and Friday 12 September. Permission forms for this event have been sent home. Please ensure you return forms and payment by the due date.

Parent Teacher Interviews – Monday 15 September
Parent / Teacher interviews will be held this term on the afternoon of Monday 15 September. This is a great opportunity to discuss your child’s progress with their class teacher. Attendance at these meetings also signals to your child that you value their education and how they are progressing. More information will be emailed out soon with the booking information and links to book your interview.
Student Pick-Up Reminder: School Finishes at 2:30 PM — Grounds Close at 2:45 PM
To help maintain a safe and orderly environment for all students, staff, and visitors, we kindly remind families that all students must leave the school grounds by 2:45 PM each day, unless enrolled in Helping Hands.
After this time, our staff are engaged in professional development, meetings, and planning activities, and require a quiet and focused environment to work effectively.
We have observed that many children remain unsupervised after school hours, leading to safety concerns and incidents involving damage to school property, including buildings and pathways. We ask parents and carers to ensure children are collected promptly and supervised as needed.
If a child has not been collected by 2:45 PM, they must report to the front office. Staff will then contact parents or guardians to confirm pick-up arrangements.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and respectful school environment for everyone.
Student Free Day
Friday 5 September is a student free day for all Queensland State Schools. Students do not attend school. If you require care for your child/ren, Helping Hands Landsborough will be open. Remember, bookings must be made in advance for your child to attend Helping Hands PH: 0428 524 854.0

Year 6 Set for Success Program
As part of the Glasshouse Coalition where feeder primary schools work closely with Beerwah SHS, our Year 6 students and teachers have commenced a Set for Success Program which is facilitated by Beerwah SHS and aims to ensure that Landsborough SS students are equipped with the skills and knowledge required to navigate digital teaching and learning via QLearn. QLearn is the Departments new learning management system and is being used more and more across both primary and secondary schools to support streamlined digital learning.
In Year 7 at Beerwah SHS and other state high schools, students will need to have knowledge of this platform to use in their classes. Through working virtually with Patrick Walden (Head of Department Digital Technologies and Humanities) at Beerwah SHS students will:
✔️ Access pages, files and information from within a module
✔️ Participate in online class discussions via the class discussion board
✔️ Complete set tasks using Microsoft 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)
✔️ Save and Submit tasks
Our Year 6 students will begin participating in this online program on Thursday 4th September, it will run for 6 weeks.

Book Week 2025
Landsborough State School was transformed into a world of wonder today as we ‘Booked an Adventure’ for Book Week 2025!
From enchanted forests to outer space, from classic characters to modern favourites; our students stepped into stories and brought their favourite characters to life in our dress-up parade.
This year marks 80 years of Children’s Book Week, and what better way to celebrate than with a journey through imagination, creativity, and the joy of reading.
Thank you to our families, staff, and young adventurers for making today unforgettable. We do appreciate all the effort that went into creating our adventurous costumes!
Here's to many more literary adventures ahead!

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)
What is Reboot and Why Do We Use It at Landsborough State School?
At Landsborough State School, we know that learning happens best when students feel calm, focused, and ready to engage. That’s why we use the Reboot program—a practical approach to help children understand and manage their emotions so they can return to a “learning-ready” state.
Reboot teaches students about the connection between the brain, body, and emotions. Using simple, child-friendly language and visual tools, it helps them recognise when they’re feeling calm, stressed, or overwhelmed, and gives them strategies to self-regulate.
Our aim with Reboot is to create a supportive, consistent environment where students feel safe to acknowledge their emotions and develop life-long skills for resilience, emotional awareness, and positive learning behaviours.
When children know how to “reboot” themselves, they’re not just learning for school, they’re learning for life.

Time Out
In recent weeks, we have seen an increase in the number of students absent from school due to sickness. Queensland Health recommends 'Time Out' for contagious diseases e.g. chicken pox, influenza and gastroenteritis. Queensland Health also has strict guidelines for children affected by head lice. Further advice and information on any of the relevant conditions can be obtained by contacting your nearest Public Health Unit or referring to the Timeout Poster below.
Late arrivals and early departures must sign in and out through our administration office.
NOTE: Unexplained absences will print on report cards.
Landsborough State School Facebook Page
The Landsborough State School Facebook page is a great place to keep up-to-date regarding upcoming events, what volunteers are needed and helpful reminders in case you missed the notification. If you haven’t already ‘liked’ our Facebook page, jump on and do so now.
QParents
Throughout Semester 1 we have continued to use established processes (paper copies) to communicate information and seek consent for camps, excursions, incursions etc. with the aim of providing parents and carers with as much time as possible to sign up to QParents. We are in the process of fully transitioning to QParents which will mean that paper copies will no longer be provided. Please ensure that you have signed up to QParents so that you can access this important communication.
QParents is a secure, online portal that our school uses. QParents provides parents with quick, easy access to their student information including:
student and attendance details
report cards
invoices and payment history
consent forms for school activities such as excursions.
For further information, visit the QParents Website orcall 13 QGOV (13 74 68).
The P&C is made up of parents just like you! The primary goal of the P&C is to enhance the educational opportunities for the students at our school. But along with that, it is also a great platform to build lifelong friendships with other like-minded parents, enhance your skill set, become more informed on important school matters and policies, provide parent input and give back to our wonderful school community.
Being a P&C member does not mean that you must attend all meetings. Our meetings are where all decisions are made, therefore attendance is encouraged so you can have your say.
Our next meeting is Wednesday 27 August at 5:30pm in the Hive.
Did you hear the exciting news? The Monstar Colour Fun Run is back for 2025 and will be held on Friday 19 September!
