Bullying No Way Week, Australia’s key bullying prevention initiative, will take place from Monday 11 August to Friday 15 August 2025. This national week of action connects schools and communities to find workable solutions to prevent bullying and promote safer environments.
At Landsborough State School, we will participate in this important initiative on Friday 15 August. This day is an opportunity for our students to take action, show leadership, and be part of the solution in preventing bullying. It’s a chance for us all to focus on how we can create safe and inclusive communities, both within our school and beyond.
This year, purple is the official colour representing the Bullying No Way National Week of Action, symbolising our commitment to standing against bullying. Students are welcome to wear purple on the day. The theme for 2025 is: 'Be bold. Be kind. Speak up’. It takes courage to spark change. Bullying is everyone’s responsibility. It takes a community to be brave and address bullying behaviours, both inside and outside the school gate. Students can show boldness, kindness, and strength by standing up for others. Parents and teachers play a vital role in guiding children to develop positive behaviours and respectful relationships. We are committed to creating a community where everyone belongs, diversity is celebrated, and bullying is never accepted. We encourage our students, staff, families, and the wider community to:
Be bold and say something
Be kind and support someone
Be proud to take a stand against bullying.
What can parents do?
We encourage parents to talk to their children about the importance of this day and what they learned. Engaging in conversations about bullying can reinforce the lessons taught at school and help create a consistent message at home. We encourage students to wear purple next Friday 15 August. Thank you for your support in making this day meaningful and impactful for our students.
Support Staff Day
This Friday 8 August, Landsborough State School will be celebrating Support Staff Recognition Week. This is a great opportunity to acknowledge and express our deep appreciation for the incredible work of our support staff. From administration staff to cleaning, facilities and ICT staff, their dedication, care, and behind-the-scenes contributions are vital to the smooth running of our school. They are our quiet achievers who ensure our students are supported, our classrooms run efficiently, and our school remains a safe, welcoming place for all. Their efforts do not go unnoticed, and on behalf of the entire school community, we want to thank them for everything they do to support us all. We invite everyone to join us in showing our appreciation this Friday, 8 August, as we recognise and celebrate their outstanding contribution to our school community. Let’s make sure they feel seen, valued, and truly celebrated.
Breakfast Club Volunteers
Our students are very lucky to have the option of joining our P&C, Volunteers Breaky Club on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at the hall. Our students really enjoy these mornings, with a variety of breaky options to pick from. We are always looking for volunteers to help on a Tuesday and Thursday morning. If you can lend a hand, please get in contact with our friendly P&C committee. They would love to see a few more helping hands on these mornings.
This term, our P&C are hosting the MONSTAR Colour Fun Run on Friday 19 September, the last day of Term 3. The last two years, we have managed to raise over $20 000 for our school in this fundraiser. The students received some great fundraising prizes and had such a fun day. For this event to be a great success, we need your help and support. I encourage you to get behind our P&C and support our school with this event. We will be launching this event next week. Follow the Landsborough State School Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/LandsboroughSS) and the P&C Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/landsboroughsspandc) to find out more information on how you can help.

Children attend Monday to Friday, from 8:30am to 2:30pm.

Enrolment packs can be collected from our school office for any interested parents. Below is some information on our next Principal Tour and our Open Day events. Our 2026 Parent Information Night is coming up on Wednesday 3 September from 5:30pm – 6:30pm. Should you require further information please contact our school administration on 5436 2777.
School Opinion Survey
The annual suite of School Opinion Surveys will be conducted in Term 3 and will close on 22 August 2025. All families, school staff and students in target year levels (5, 6, 8 and 11) will be invited to participate. We encourage you to take this opportunity to have your say about what our school does well, and how we can improve.
An invitation to complete the Parent/Caregiver Survey has been emailed to one parent/caregiver per family. Check your junk email folders if you can’t find it. The survey can be completed as soon as the invitation is received and will take approximately 5 minutes using a computer, tablet or smart phone.
Parents/caregivers who do not have access to the internet at home are welcome to complete their survey online at the school. School computers/tablets will be available.
I encourage you to please complete the survey to help us identify what is working well and keep improving our practices to provide the best possible educational environment for all of our students at Landsborough State School.
Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD)
Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines (2019).
Information provided about students to the Australian Government for the NCCD includes:
year of schooling
category of disability: physical, cognitive, sensory or social/emotional
level of adjustment provided: support provided within quality differentiated teaching practice, supplementary, substantial or extensive.
This information assists schools to:
formally recognise the supports and adjustments provided to students with disability in schools
consider how they can strengthen the support of students with disability in schools
develop shared practices so that they can review their learning programs to improve educational outcomes for students with disability.
The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability.
The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students is ensured. All information is protected by privacy laws that regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of personal information. To find out more about these matters, please refer to the Australian Government’s Privacy Policy (https://www.education.gov.au/privacy-policy).
If you have any questions about the NCCD, please contact the school.
Parent Teacher Interviews – Monday 15 September
Parent / Teacher interviews will be held this term on the afternoon of Monday 15 September. This is a great opportunity to discuss your child’s progress with their class teacher. Attendance at these meetings also signals to your child that you value their education and how they are progressing. More information will be emailed out soon with the booking information and links to book your interview.
Student Pick-Up Reminder: School Finishes at 2:30 PM — Grounds Close at 2:45 PM
To help maintain a safe and orderly environment for all students, staff, and visitors, we kindly remind families that all students must leave the school grounds by 2:45 PM each day, unless enrolled in Helping Hands.
After this time, our staff are engaged in professional development, meetings, and planning activities, and require a quiet and focused environment to work effectively.
We have observed that many children remain unsupervised after school hours, leading to safety concerns and incidents involving damage to school property, including buildings and pathways. We ask parents and carers to ensure children are collected promptly and supervised as needed.
If a child has not been collected by 2:45 PM, they must report to the front office. Staff will then contact parents or guardians to confirm pick-up arrangements.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and respectful school environment for everyone.
Student Free Day
Friday 5 September is a student free day for all Queensland State Schools. Please ensure that you make arrangements for the care of your children on this day.
Yours in Education

QParents
Throughout Semester 1 we have continued to use established processes (paper copies) to communicate information and seek consent for camps, excursions, incursions etc. with the aim of providing parents and carers with as much time as possible to sign up to QParents. We are in the process of fully transitioning to QParents which will mean that paper copies will no longer be provided. Please ensure that you have signed up to QParents so that you can access this important communication.
QParents is a secure, online portal that our school uses. QParents provides parents with quick, easy access to their student information including:
student and attendance details
report cards
invoices and payment history
consent forms for school activities such as excursions.

The P&C is made up of parents just like you! The primary goal of the P&C is to enhance the educational opportunities for the students at our school. But along with that, it is also a great platform to build lifelong friendships with other like-minded parents, enhance your skill set, become more informed on important school matters and policies, provide parent input and give back to our wonderful school community.
Being a P&C member does not mean that you must attend all meetings. Our meetings are where all decisions are made, therefore attendance is encouraged so you can have your say.
Our next meeting is Wednesday 27 August at 5:30pm in the Hive.
