We have had a busy start to term, with lots of great events already occurring and lots more planned for this term including, Year 2 excursion to Australia Zoo, Prep excursion to White Ridge Farm, Year 5/6 Camp, LSS Junior Cross Country, LSS Junior and Senior Athletics Carnival and Under 8’s Day. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for the latest upcoming event information.
It has been really pleasing to see how well the students have settled back into school routines after the Easter break, with a strong focus on high frequency, low variance morning phonics routines. A quick walk through our classrooms shows quality teaching and learning occurring at Landsborough State School. It has also been great to see our attendance rates remaining steady, just above 90%, which is higher than this time last year. Keep up the great work Landsborough!
Breakfast Club – Tuesdays and Thursdays.
A big shout-out to our amazing P&C and the wonderful morning volunteers for providing a delicious breakfast for our students every Tuesday and Thursday morning. This fantastic initiative is very well supported and eagerly anticipated by our students.
We are incredibly grateful for the time and effort our volunteers put in to make this possible. A special thank you also goes to the Kirkham family and Helping Hands for their generous weekly donations of breakfast goodies. Thank you all for making a difference!
Following our School Uniform Policy
Following our Landsborough State School Uniform Policy is essential for creating a professional, respectful, and safe learning environment for all students. It plays a significant role in promoting school pride, student identity, and a sense of belonging. The policy also helps to eliminate distraction and competition amongst peers, minimising visible evidence of economic or social difference. The Uniform policy has been endorsed and supported by our P&C.
As we head into the cooler months, I remind all students and parents of the importance of following our school's uniform policy. Please see below, an extract from our Uniform Policy regarding accepted winter attire:
Micro fibre, water-resistant, fully lined black and white tracksuit zip jacket with teal stripe detail and school logo
Black fleece jumper with school logo or plain black track top (no hoods)
Black tracksuit pants
Long sleeved teal polo with black and white stripe detail with school logo
Long sleeved black or white skivvy (to be worn under school polo)
Plain black stockings/leggings allowed under skorts or shorts only
A student's attire is a representation of themselves and the school they attend. We appreciate your support to ensure all students are wearing the correct school uniform.
P&C Mother’s Day Stall – Happy Mother’s Day
A big thank you to our P&C for organising and holding our annual Mother’s Day Stall for our students last week. It was great to see our students enjoy picking a special gift to give on Sunday. Thank you also to our school leaders who helped to run the stall.
We hope that all our LSS mums, grandmothers, aunts and special carers had a wonderful Mother’s Day!
Morning Routine – Maximising Learning Time
I would just like to remind all parents about our school start times. Students should arrive between 8:00am and 8:30am to ensure a smooth start to the day.
Prep to Year 2 students are to assemble in the hall.
Years 3 to 6 students should assemble under F Block.
This routine helps all students be prepared and ready to begin learning promptly at 8:30am. Arriving late can cause anxiety and disrupt a child’s ability to settle into the day. A calm and timely start sets students up for success in their learning.
Please note: Students should not arrive before 8:00am. Thank you for supporting this important routine.
Additionally, we kindly request your support in minimising interruptions to the school day. Late arrivals not only impact your child, but also the other students in the classroom who have already started their learning for the day. The first two hours of the school day focus on core learning in literacy and numeracy, which are critical for academic development. Being present and engaged during this time supports your child’s learning and contributes to a focused environment for all students. We appreciate your ongoing understanding and cooperation

Petra Kaufmann Business Manager
LSS P&C
The P&C is made up of parents just like you! The primary goal of the P&C is to enhance the educational opportunities for the students at our school. But along with that, it is also a great platform to build lifelong friendships with other like-minded parents, enhance your skill set, become more informed on important school matters and policies, provide parent input and give back to our wonderful school community.
Being a P&C member does not mean that you must attend all meetings. Our meetings are where all decisions are made, therefore attendance is encouraged so you can have your say.
Our next meeting is Wednesday 28 May at 5:30pm in the Hive. In the meantime, if there any questions please don't hesitate to contact us at: landsboroughpandc@outlook.com.
VACANT POSITIONS
Whilst all Executive Positions for 2025 have been filled, there are still a couple of vacanies on the committee. Our growing school needs a full P&C committee to continue supporting the school. The task is too big for just a few people. Please consider taking on one if these vacant roles:
Grants Officer:
Develops contacts and applies for relevant grants. The role requires liaising with the school as applications depend on the preferences and commitment of the school.
Assistant Treasurer:
Assists the Treasurer with their role. After 5 years as P&C Treasurer, this will be Rebecca’s last year in the role, as her daughter is now in year 6. We are looking for someone who may be interested in taking on the Treasurer role in 2026. Being Assistant Treasurer will give you a chance to ‘learn the ropes’ from Rebecca this year whilst she is in the Treasurer position.
If you would like to get involved or for further information, please email the P&C at landsboroughpandc@outlook.com. Full training would be provided.
Uniforms - The School Locker
Landsborough State School uniforms are available to purchase from The School Locker Maroochydore. This store is open 7 days a week for convenient shopping. You can also make purchases online and have the items home delivered!
Thank you to everyone who supported our Mother’s Day stall last week and to all of the volunteers who came along to lend a hand. We hope all LSS mothers and mother figures in our school community had a happy Mother’s Day!

Local Family Fun ‘Weeds & Waterways’ Day
Mooloolah River Landcare would like to invite students and their families to their upcoming Weeds and Waterways community morning at the Landsborough Sports Complex on Sat the 24th of May form 9am-12pm. (see attached poster)
They will be raising awareness about the fact that Landsborough is in a drinking water catchment, what that means and how we can all contribute to safeguarding this important resource.
Family fun activities will include looking at samples of water from the Creek (which runs alongside the sports ground) to see what waterbugs are there and what they can tell us about the health of the waterways. They will also have a lot of great information and hands-on activities to learn about weeds and how we can protect our waterways from them...
Plus there will be a free sausage sizzle and other great give-aways!
