Congratulations to our school leaders, who participated in the Investiture Ceremony as part of last week’s parade. It was great to see so many parents and community members in attendance to recognise and support our students who were chosen by their peers and teachers to represent our school in 2025. Our young leaders were selected for the skills they have displayed throughout their schooling years. They will be expected to complete a variety of leadership tasks throughout the year, such as, leading school parades, delivering messages, assisting staff during school events, fundraising, and supporting their peers. They will be expected to embody the values of courage, service and influence, and follow our school motto: Your Future, Our Focus. They will also be expected to lead by example in demonstrating our school expectations of - We are Safe, We are Respectful, We are Responsible and We are Active Learners. Congratulations leaders, we look forward to witnessing your contribution to our school in 2025.
Uniform Expectations
It is an expectation that all Landsborough State School students wear full school uniform every day. Our uniform includes school polo shirt, wide brimmed school hat, black school shorts, all-white or all-black socks and all-black closed in shoes. If your child is not able to attend in full school uniform, please send along a letter to the office so that we can issue an out-of-uniform slip.
Halogen Leaders Conference
Our Year 6 School Leaders will head to Brisbane on Monday 24 February to participate in the National Young Leaders Day. This will be a great opportunity for our young leaders to hear from some of Australia’s most high-profile people, sharing insights from their own leadership journey. We can’t wait to hear about their experience when they return.
No Parade
As our school leaders will be on an excursion on Monday 24 February, there will be no school parade in week 5. Our next parade will be held on Monday 3 March at 2:00pm.
Student Personal Devices – Phones Away for the Day Policy
Queensland state schools are committed to reducing the distraction of mobile devices to provide optimal learning environments for all students.
The policy which was introduced in 2024 for Queensland state school relates to mobile devices include mobile phones, wearables such as smartwatches, handheld devices and other emerging technologies which have the ability to connect to telecommunication networks/internet and/or take digital photos/videos.
All state school students must keep mobile phones and devices switched off and ‘away for the day’ during school hours.
To ensure that we comply with this policy, we request that parents and caregivers:
support their child to meet expectations of the school's local policy approach for student use of mobile devices, as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct
support implementation of the local policy approach by using the school’s preferred communication channels to contact their child during school hours
work with the school to resolve issues regarding student compliance with the school's local policy approach.
Students who bring mobile devices to school, must sign them in and out at the start and end of the school day. This includes when students are on school excursions. Thank you for your support with this.
Chappy Chill Day
A big thank you Chappy Anita, Maz and Rachel for organising and serving our students last Friday for Chappy Ice Cream Day. It was a very hot day and a great way to celebrate our first three weeks at school. Our students loved them! All money raised today will go towards our Chaplaincy funds. Thank you for supporting our Chaplaincy Program.
Principal Tours
My Principal-led tours are back for 2025! They are the perfect opportunity for families to get a real sense of daily life at our school. Discover what makes Landsborough State School a great place to learn and grow! My next tour will be on Thursday 13th March at 9:00am. To join this tour simply check-in at our admin office by 8:55am on the day.

Parent/Teacher Interviews
Interviews will be held on Monday 24th March after school in the hall. This is a wonderful opportunity to speak to your child’s teacher around how your child is going and what their next steps could be to improve in term 2. More information will be shared on how to book times in the near future.
P-2 Before School
When P-2 students arrive at school after 8:00am, can they please go to the hall with their bags rather than classrooms. We have supervision in the hall from 8:00am, students also receive messages/reminders about the goings on around the school from Ms Clark at 8:25am. On Monday’s and Tuesday’s, we will be sitting quietly in our lines as Brekky club operates out of the hall and with the extra students and adults it is incredibly loud and is unsafe for us to do our movement activities. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday students can choose to either join in with the movement activities with Ms Kylie and Ms Clark or sit in their class lines until it’s time for announcements.
NAPLAN
Years 3 and 5 will be sitting their NAPLAN tests in Week 8 and 9 of this term. NAPLAN assesses the literacy and numeracy skills that students are learning through the school curriculum and allows parents/carers to see how their child is progressing against national standards. NAPLAN is just one aspect of a school’s assessment and reporting process. It does not replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance, but it can provide teachers with additional information about students’ educational progress. Students are not expected to study for NAPLAN. You can support your child by reassuring them that NAPLAN is a part of their school program and reminding them to simply do their best.
If you have any questions around curriculum, please do not hesitate in contacting me.
Kylie Clark A/Head of Department Curriculum

To prepare, we encourage you to sign up for QParents. This platform is essential for accessing digital consent forms and offers features like 24/7 access to school invoices, absentee notifications, and your child's academic reports. We need as many families as possible signed up to QParents before we can proceed with digital consent forms.
How to Sign Up:
Initiations are currently being emailed to those not yet registered. Just follow the instructions to complete your account setup using your child's EQID, found on their invoices. Need help? Contact our office for assistance.
It is important that we have up-to-date contact information for parents and carers so that we can keep you informed. Running of the Houses
The Running of The Houses is back for 2025! This is great training for our upcoming Cross Country event.
When: Wednesday and Friday mornings (8:00 – 8:25am)
Who: Years 1 - 6 can participate. Students not wanting to participate need to wait for class in either the hall for years 1 and 2 or under F block for years 3 - 6.
Where: Students arriving at 8:00am will need to meet me under the office, students arriving after 8:00am can meet me on the oval and join in.
This is a challenge between the sporting houses – Burgess, Petrie and Flinders.
A lap will be made on the oval, participating students will then run laps of the oval, gaining points for their sporting house. These points will be tallied after each morning and will be totalled after the final morning on Friday 28 March.
Good luck to each house and remember, each lap you run means a lot to your team.
Guidance Officer
MYCP Program
Concerns regarding young children with difficult and defiant behaviours? The Management of Young Children Program (MYCP) is available in 2025.
The MYCP is supported by Landsborough SS, Beerwah SS and Elimbah SS (therefore no cost for these families) and is a practical and individualised behaviour support program for parents and carers of young children aged 2½ to 7 years and their families. It is a well-established and evidence based early intervention program targeting children who display defiant or oppositional behaviour with the aim of reducing such problematic behaviours in primary school and beyond.
Other families/ schools outside of this catchment area have the option of accessing the ‘user pay’ option which is currently $750 for 6 x 1 hour individualised sessions. For more information or interest in participating in the program, please see the school website link or contact the Landsborough SS office 5436 2777.
The Landsborough State School P&C Association welcomes you into our community for this upcoming school year and beyond.
Our P&C consists of parents, carers and community-minded people who want to improve our school. Our P&C is open to all parents and citizens of the school community. Involvement in the P&C will allow you to gain a closer connection with your child’s education through:
* Direct monthly access to the Principal and other members of staff.
* Information and explanation about what is happening in the school currently and what is planned in the future.
* Have a say about issues of concern and school policies.
* As a member your vote counts.
* You are actively linking home with school, which strengthens the partnership that has a vital impact upon your child’s academic and social growth.
We encourage all LSS families to come along to our P&C meetings, join the P&C committee and/or participate in our events and fundraising activities throughout the year. Our meetings are where all decisions are made, so please come along and have your say.
Our next meeting is our AGM, scheduled for Wednesday 26th Marchat 5.30pm.We invite you to join us as we work towards making 2025 another successful P&C year.
At this meeting, all positions will be declared vacant, and elections will take place to fill these roles for the upcoming year.
It’s your chance to get involved, make a difference, and help shape the future of our school community. No experience needed – just enthusiasm!
We are asking for Easter donations to be put towards our annual Easter Raffle. Items include Easter Eggs, Easter Art and Craft, baskets etc. This is a fantastic and easy way to contribute, especially if you are time-poor and can’t volunteer your time to assist the P&C. 3 baskets of goodies will be raffled in the lead up to Easter (1st, 2nd and 3rd prize).
We would love your help! Donations, large or small will be gratefully accepted and can be left at the school administration office.
Breakfast Club
Join us on Tuesday and Thursday mornings between 7:45 and 8:20am for some toast, cereal, fruit and laughs.
Parents and carers, we are always looking for volunteers, so please let us know. This is also a great opportunity to catch-up with other parents and have a chat.
Donations to Brekky Club are welcome. We are always looking for different healthy things to serve.
